RESULTS OF STATE ELECTIONS

India's oldest party Congress has again proved its supremacy in Delhi and Rajasthan by retaining third term in Delhi and coming back in power in Rajasthan. While on the other side BJP has retained its power in MP and Jharkhand.

In Delhi, this was an opportunity for lost BJP and V.K. Malhotra to come back and challenge for Sheela Dixit to become a first lady occupying the CM seat for the third consecutive term. Here congress has one more time win the majority on a development agenda.

Rajasthan, where Vashundhara Raje was dreaming for second term again Congress has taken back the power after sitting in the opposition for five years. Even after reasonably good development of Rajasthan during her tenor the main reason for Raje's defeat is her inaccessibility of a common man and the Gurjars who where against her as she could not promise them what they wanted.

In Madhyapradesh where the so called anti-incummbency factor was an only hope for Congress to win the election did not work and Shivarajsinh Chauhan who sticked to his development agenda could convince a common man to give him a second chance. Chauhan who was considered as a weak leader has strengthened his party as well as his image and proved that an election can also be win without playing the cards of community or castism.
